Refund Policy

The short version
If you’re unhappy with our service, we’ll refund your money — within reason and within the windows below. We’d rather you tell us what went wrong than keep money you don’t think you got value from.
Monthly plans (Standard, Growth, Premium)
Cancellation: cancel anytime from your account dashboard. No phone call, no email gauntlet.
Refund: the current month’s payment is non-refundable; your service continues through the end of the period you paid for; future months are not charged.
Setup fee: refundable in full within 7 days of sign-up if no work has begun. Non-refundable after work begins.
Annual plans
Cancellation: cancel anytime from your account dashboard.
Within first 30 days: full refund of unused months minus a 10% admin fee. Setup fee non-refundable if work has begun.
After 30 days: no refund of remaining annual amount; service continues through the full annual period; we will not auto-renew you for another annual cycle.
Why 30 days then no refund: annual plans are priced 20% lower than monthly precisely because we can plan a year of work efficiently. Mid-year cancellations break that math.
Founding Member plans
Cancellation: stop service anytime by emailing ryan@secretoptimizer.com.
Within first 30 days of purchase: full refund minus the documented value of work already delivered (calculated at the equivalent monthly tier rate). Itemized breakdown provided within 5 business days of refund request.
After 30 days: non-refundable. You retain access to all content already delivered. If we end the service voluntarily (by closing the company), see below.
“Work already delivered” calculation
- Blog posts published (counted at monthly tier rate, prorated by quantity)
- GBP optimization completed (~$200 value)
- SEO setup work (~$300 value if API connections, schema, and Search Console set up)
- Setup fees (where applicable: $750 for Local Authority, $1,500 for Multi-Location)
Does NOT include: time on intake calls or chat, research that didn’t result in published content, strategic recommendations not yet implemented.
If we go out of business
We don’t plan to, but if Secret Optimizer ever ceases operations: monthly customers get refunded for any month paid for but not yet delivered; annual customers get prorated refund for the unused portion; Founding Members get a refund based on this formula:
Founding Member shutdown refund = (Original purchase price) × (1 − Months delivered ÷ 60 months)
Example: a Founding Growth customer ($497/mo (yr 1)) for whom we deliver 18 months before shutdown = refund of $497/mo (yr 1) × (1 − 18/60) = $3,499.
How to request a refund
Email ryan@secretoptimizer.com with your business name, account email, plan you’re on, and (optional) reason. We respond within 1 business day. Refunds are processed within 5 business days of approval and appear on your statement within 5–10 business days after.
Chargebacks
Please email us before filing a chargeback. Most refund situations resolve faster through us than through a chargeback (60–90 days). A chargeback we believe is unwarranted may result in account termination.
Changes to this policy
Changes apply only to purchases made after the change takes effect — your existing refund terms are locked in at the time of your purchase.
